The City of Sugar Land's City Hall is an 81,000-square-foot, three-story building complete with a plaza for community events and concerts. This building demonstrates the classical architectural style with a limestone and brick facade. The column-lined stair entry incorporates a copper bell and clock tower vertical element. This formal entryway sets the municipal landmark apart and reflects the vision of the Sugar Land community. Uplighting was used extensively to highlight the grand architectural gestures and rhythms. Floodlights were used to wash the clock tower from all sides and internal lighting in the uppermost bell tower gives those windows an internal glow. Steplights illuminate the main exterior stairs and other pedestrian pathways for safety without the use of bollards or poles, which would have distracted from the classical architecture.
